Morgan adores her boyfriend Nick. "He is totally hot," she tells us, referring to Nick's "genuine smile, deep blue eyes, and very unique sense of humor." The two have known each other since the fifth grade, but they became close friends in high school. When they're together, Morgan says he acts as though she is the only one in the room. When it came to prom, Morgan told us, "I let him know I wouldn't want to go with anyone but him."

SHE IS: Morgan, 17, Senior
HER DATE IS: Nick, 18, Senior
DAY OF PROM: May 24
THE SCHOOL: Cherokee High School, Canton, Georgia
THE SCENE: The Roswell Mill, Roswell, Georgia

PROM PREP "I was prepared (and really broke!) by the time the day rolled around," Morgan recalls. She started planning early, and was one of the first girls in her school to get a dress. Morgan knew just what she wanted -- she and Nick were going for an all black-and-white look. So when she spotted her strapless, elaborately patterned two-tone dress on the Jessica McClintock website, Morgan knew that was the dress for her. Luckily, she tracked down that same one at the local mall on her first day of dress shopping! Because the dress was a tad pricey, Morgan decided to be frugal with shoes and accessories. She bought a pair of strappy heels at Payless, and decided on an inexpensive black faux-jeweled choker and matching bracelet and earrings. "Everything looked great together," she remembers happily.

BEAUTY TALK Morgan wore her hair in an updo for prom, courtesy of Nick's hairdresser! "She's cut my boyfriend's hair since he was little." Morgan was delighted with her elegant style. "We put a little bit of baby's breath in it to give it a kick." Morgan chose to do her makeup herself -- and she wanted drama. "I went for a dark, smoky-eyed look," she tells us. Her lipstick was a deep, brick red, and she applied shimmery lip gloss as a top coat for extra sparkle.

SAY IT WITH FLOWERS By coincidence, Morgan and Nick chose the same florist for each other's flowers. Morgan's corsage consisted of four white roses with black and silver ribbons ("Simple, yet beautiful," she says) and Nick's boutonniere was a single white carnation.

THE BIG NIGHT Morgan and Nick decided against booking a limo mostly because it was going to be just the two of them, and neither of them minded riding in a car. They borrowed Nick's mom's new car, which suited them nicely. "It was fun driving there and back, not worrying about a schedule," Morgan says. Before prom, the couple went out for dinner at a nearby restaurant. Morgan loved it. "We were calm and relaxed and in no hurry -- and we had the best service and food." Afterward they walked through the garden paths outside the restaurant, and sat by a decorative waterfall and talked.

SLOW DANCING Eventually, Morgan and Nick arrived at prom, which was held at The Roswell Mill, a historical Georgia landmark. The theme was A Moment Like This, which Morgan thought was "good for a prom but it was a total rip-off of the whole American Idol thing." There was a DJ, who Morgan tells us did a great job, except she wishes he'd played more slow songs. "We only had about eight slow songs the whole night," she says, "but we danced slow every chance we had." One of the most memorable moments of the evening was when one of the teachers -- a football coach -- began dancing like crazy with one of the parent chaperones. "By the end of the night," Morgan remembers, "everyone was watching them. They were like kids again. It was great."

POST-PROM After the final song, Morgan and Nick headed back to Morgan's house for some final moments together. "We aren't all about the crazy after-parties," she explains. The couple hung out for about 2 more hours and talked about the evening. "It was a perfect way to end the night," Morgan says. The next day, after church, Morgan, Nick, and Morgan's family went to the Renaissance Festival. "It was a great, full weekend," Morgan says, looking back. "We had a really good time together."
