Q. What do I do if my date shows up drunk?

A. So your date arrives, and it's obvious he's had a few too many. If your parents don't kill him first, we will.

"Obviously, you should never get into a car with a drunk driver," explains Carol Weston, author of Girltalk: All the Stuff Your Sister Never Told You. "Without sounding too judgmental, say, 'Hey, I see you started the party without me. Listen, I like being with you but not when you're like this.'" Then, offer to meet him at the dance, and have a parent or a friend drop you off instead.

If you're going to prom in a limo, it's your call. You could agree to go, but on one condition: that he doesn't drink for the rest of the night. "If this is a one-time situation, perhaps there's an explanation," Weston says (like maybe it's a case of the pre-prom jitters). But whatever you do, make it absolutely clear that you won't tolerate his behavior, not on prom (or any other night for that matter).
